Chuadanga Correspondent: A husband was hacked to death in Chuadanga’s Damurhuday Upazila and his wife’s jewelry was stolen. However, the robbers could not escape with their motorcycle due to the situation. Later, the police reached the spot, seized the motorcycle, and took it into police station custody.
The incident took place on the Harishchandrapur-Sarabaria road in Damurhuday Upazila at around 8 pm on Sunday (February 23).
Sagar, who was injured in the attack by the robbers, is the son of Mujibar of Harishchandrapur Notungram in Kurulgachi Union of the same upazila. Sagar’s uncle Jahangir said that a pair of gold bangles, earrings, a necklace, and a nose ring were stolen.
However, the police claim that the robbers could not take anything. They tried but failed. Efforts are underway to identify the accused based on the abandoned motorcycle.
Local UP member Ashraful Islam said about the incident, People around came running due to the scuffle and shouting during the robbery. Later, seeing the situation getting worse, the robbers fled after abandoning their motorcycles.
Damurhuda Upazila Health Complex Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer Dr. Saiful Islam said Sagar had a wound on his left arm below the neck due to a sharp weapon. Six stitches were given there. He returned home after receiving primary treatment. He is out of danger.
Darshana Police Station Inspector (OC) Muhammad Shahid Titumir said there was an attempt at robbery. At that time, Sagar was injured due to a sharp weapon. However, nothing could be taken from them. Efforts are being made to identify the accused based on the motorcycle left by the robbers.
