Dhaka Bureau: Dhaka WASA Managing Director (MD) Taksim A Khan has taken a total salary of Tk 5 crore 79 lakh 93 thousand 792 from the organization in the last 13 years. Out of this, a total of 1 crore 28 lakh 87 thousand 277 taka has been deducted for house rent, income tax, quarter repair and other expenses.
Tuesday (November 29) Justice Md. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Kazi Md. Dhaka Wasa submitted a report in this regard to the Izarul Haque Akander High Court Bench. The court ordered the report to be recorded.
Barrister M Masum submitted the report on behalf of Dhaka WASA. Barrister Jortimoy Barua appeared for the writ. Deputy Attorney General Arvind Kumar Roy and Assistant Attorney General Mohammad Abbas Uddin appeared for the state.
On August 17, 2013, Dhaka Wasa Managing Director Taksim A Khan has been summoned by the High Court to account for the amount of money he has taken as salary, incentive allowance and ancillary benefits.
At the same time, the court issued a ruling seeking to know why the inaction of the defendants regarding the removal of Taksim A Khan from the post of managing director should not be declared outside the legal authority. Besides, the ruling also sought to know why he should not be ordered to be removed.
It is also sought to know why his pay should not be fixed as per National Pay Scale 2015 until he is removed.
The court gave this order after hearing a writ petition of Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB). The local government secretary, Dhaka WASA Board and the concerned defendants were asked to respond to the ruling within four weeks.
