The Crime Desk: BNP senior joint secretary general advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi commented that the interim government is shying away from the deadline, which people are looking at with suspicion. He made this comment during the meeting of the delegation of ‘Amra BNP Parivar’ with the martyr’s family in Demra, Dhaka, on Wednesday (October 23).
Addressing the interim government, Rizvi said you should reform. But why do you have so much doubt about the election date? Democracy is about making it clear to the people what will happen. People doubt these things. You commissioned a commission for reforms, did everything, and in how many days will it report? In how many days will there be a free and fair election in which people could not vote for the last 15 years—not such an election.
He said that in the election people will decide which party to vote for; they will choose who will form the government. Clarity and guidelines—these two are two of the conditions of democracy. You hesitate to say deadlines, deadlines. People are looking at it with suspicion.
Rizvi said, Dr. Muhammad Yunus is an honorable man. He has brought international respect for Bangladesh. But he should first see in which people live and in which they find comfort. Regulate the market first so that low-income people can eat properly. Has reduced duty on many items, but has no effect on the market.
Also present on the occasion were Ashraf Uddin Bakul, Adviser of Aram BNP Family, Convener Journalist Atiqur Rahman Rumon, Member Secretary Mithun, BNP Co-Organizing Secretary Professor Aminul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP Member Secretary Tanveer Ahmed Rabin, Volunteer Team Leader Arifur Rahman. Tushar, Youth Dal leader Zakir Hossain, and others.
