The bank accounts of Motiur, two wives, and five children were seized in the goat incident

Dhaka Bureau: The financial intelligence agency Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has seized the bank accounts of Matiur Rahman alias Pintu, his two wives, and five children, the former member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) who was discussed in the goat scandal. At the same time, they have been ordered to freeze their mobile financial services (MFS) accounts and stock market beneficial owners (BO) accounts. As a result, no further transactions can be made in these accounts until further instructions are given.

Among those who have been ordered to freeze their bank and BO accounts are Motiur Rahman, his first wife Laila Kaniz, daughter of first wife Farzana Rahman Ipsita, son of first wife Ahmed Taufiqur Rahman, second wife Shammi Akhtar Shibli, daughter of second wife Iftima Rahman Madhuri, and second wife. The wife’s son, Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, and the and the second wife’s son, Irfanur Rahman Irfan,.

BFIU has asked for all the information about the bank, MFS, and BO accounts of those eight people. They have been directed to submit the bank account opening form, KYC, and transaction statement within the next 5 working days. A bank has confirmed receipt of this letter.

BFIU is said to have taken this decision in view of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s request.

Matiur Rahman was the president of the Customs, Excise, and VAT Appellate Tribunal of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and director of Sonali Bank.

When the issue of corruption came to light, he was removed from the post of President of the Customs, Excise, and VAT Appellate Tribunal and attached to the Internal Resources Department of the Ministry of Finance. Later, he was also removed from the directorship of Sonali Bank.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has formed a three-member inquiry committee in view of the complaint received against Matiur Rahman on June 4. The party has launched an investigation into Matiur Rahman’s corruption and illegal wealth acquisition.

The court banned Matiur Rahman, his wife, and his son from leaving the country. Although there are rumors that they have already left the country,.
