Dhaka Bureau: My Bangladesh Party (AB Party) feels that ‘people are being cheated by portraying mega projects’. The leaders of the party made this comment at a media briefing at the party’s central office in Vijay Nagar in the capital on Wednesday (May 15).
The AB Party organized this media briefing to protest economic mismanagement, dollar smuggling in the name of import and export, and people’s suffering due to high commodity prices.
Party convener Solaiman Chowdhury, member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju, and party finance secretary Aminul Islam spoke in it.
In a media briefing, Mojibur Rahman Manju said, “People are being deceived by showing the images of various mega projects. Government party people and some bureaucrats have built a mountain of their own wealth. Actually, the amount of reserves in the country has reached 13 billion dollars. Although the government says the amount is 18 billion dollars, But international financial institutions, including the IMF, say that there are 13 billion dollars in usable reserves.
Solaiman Chowdhury also said that the people of the country are not getting work, while thousands of people from a neighboring country are working here illegally. The country’s money is being taken abroad. Banks have been forcibly taken over and distributed among party people. The reserve is going to be zero today. The country today is stuck in the quicksand of economic mismanagement.
At that time, the leaders were present among them: Party Joint Convenor BM Nazmul Haque, Joint Member Secretary and Office Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun Rana, Publicity Secretary Anwar Sadat Tutul, Metropolitan North Convenor Altaf Hossain, and other central leaders.
