International Desk: At least 12 people were killed in a plane crash in the northwestern province of Acre in Brazil. Among them are children.
This is the second time a plane has crashed in Brazil in less than two months. The single-engine Cessna Caravan crashed near the Rio Branco airport, according to a statement from the Acre provincial government on Sunday (October 29) local time. The crashed plane was en route to Envira, a small town in the Amazonas province of Brazil. News AFP, Al Jazeera
The provincial government says all 10 passengers, as well as the pilot and co-pilot, were killed in the crash. And out of 10 passengers, nine are adults, and another is a child. It has also been announced that the accident will be investigated. However, the nationality of the deceased passengers is still unclear.
Local media reported that the plane caught fire after the crash and also ignited a forest fire in a remote area of Brazil on the border of Peru and Bolivia.
Earlier in September this year, 14 people were killed when a small jet plane crashed in the Amazon province. All 12 passengers killed in that crash were Brazilian tourists, and the other two were crew members.
