International Desk: US President Joe Biden says Israel’s occupation of Gaza will be a ‘big mistake’. Joe Biden made these comments in an interview with Scott Pell of the CBS News program 60 Minutes.
In the interview, the US president said that Hamas does not represent all of the Palestinian people. But Biden insists he wants to eliminate Hamas completely. At the same time, there must be a path to the establishment of a Palestinian state. He warned that the threat of terrorism in the United States has increased due to unrest in the Middle East.
President Biden also said that he supports the establishment of a humanitarian corridor in Gaza that would allow people to leave the besieged territory, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid, including food and water, to Gaza.
The US President said, I am sure that Israel will act according to the rules of war. He also commented that there is no need to deploy US troops in Israel.
It should be noted that hundreds of tanks of the Israeli army have been stationed near the border wall of the besieged Gaza Strip in retaliation for the attack by Hamas. Tanks began arriving in Gaza last Saturday amid continued airstrikes on Gaza. It is feared that Israel’s ground offensive in Gaza could begin at any time.
