Sports Desk: The Tigers defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in their first match in the World Cup on Saturday (October 7). In reply to Afghanistan’s 156 runs, Shakib Bahini collected 158 runs, losing four wickets in 34.4 overs.

Mehdi Hasan Miraj’s all-round performance saw the red-green representatives leave the field with an easy victory. Mehdi Hasan Miraj is proving himself to be a genuine batsman not only once or twice, but every time he gets a chance to bat at the top. In addition to scoring 57 runs off 73 balls against the Afghans in the World Cup, he also picked up 3 wickets and 25 runs in 9 overs.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten with 59 runs off 83 balls. Mirage was successful today in Bangladesh’s first match in the World Cup against Afghanistan at number three. He came to the crease after losing the team’s first wicket for 19 runs. I also saw the fall of the second wicket for 27 runs.

However, Mirage did not let the team fall into a batting disaster. Nazmul Hossain, along with Shanto, is leading Bangladesh to an easy victory. In the meantime, he picked up the third ODI half-century of his career.

A modest target of 157 runs. Bangladesh was in danger from the beginning, chasing this target thrown by Afghanistan. Bangladesh lost two wickets for 27 runs chasing the run at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala.

However, opener Tanjid Hasan Tamim was the victim of misfortune. Tanjid Tamim was run out by Najibullah Zadran’s direct throw while trying to take a run. He was batting with 5 runs off 13 balls then. The team runs were 19.

Expectations were high for Liton Das. But he also failed. On the fourth ball of the seventh over of the inning, Fazal Haque was bowled by Farooqui. Played shots to hit through the cover zone. But the ball hit the inside edge and hit the stumps. He became bold. The team runs at this time 27.

Then Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mehedi Hasan Miraj paired up. Mirage, however, found life once for 16 en route to his fifty. Mohammad Nabi left his catch at the point. That’s why it seems that luck always favors the brave.

Earlier, after losing the toss at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, Afghanistan scored 156 runs in 37 overs and got all out. The maximum 47 runs for the team came from the bat of Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Mehdi Hasan Miraj and Shakib Al Hasan took three wickets each.

Taskin, who opened the inning with the ball for Bangladesh, bowled very tightly in the first over. But after that, he could not keep the line length right. At the other end, Shariful Islam could not take advantage of the new ball. As a result, Afghanistan got off to a good start. At the end of 5 overs, they scored 27 runs on the scoreboard without a wicket.

As the pacers could not take advantage, Bangladesh went for a spin attack in the seventh over of the innings. Shakib took the ball in his hand. Coming to the bowling, this left-arm spinner digested the boundary in the first over.

However, in the next over, Mr. Seventy-Five countered. Ibrahim was caught in a deep square by the edge while slog-sweeping this left-arm spinner. The Bangladesh captain struck the first blow in the Afghan camp by returning this opener, who scored 22 runs. In the end, the Afghans’ innings were reduced to 156 runs in 37.2 overs.
