International Desk: India has given the Justin Trudeau government a deadline of October 10 to evacuate Canadian diplomats due to the killing of Khalistan movement leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
In the same way, the Canadian government has removed its diplomats from India and sent them to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Singapore, according to a report by the Canadian media outlet “CTV News”.
Recently, New Delhi requested that Canada remove 41 diplomats from India. There are currently 20 Indian diplomats in Canada. So the Modi government talked to the Trudeau government about keeping that number of Canadian diplomats in India to maintain the ‘diplomatic balance’.
India had informed Canada that it should withdraw additional diplomats from India by October 10. Similarly, Canada removed most of its diplomats from India.
“Most Canadian diplomats working in India outside New Delhi have been moved to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore,” CTV News reported.
Incidentally, last June, Nijjar, the head of the pro-Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and head of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara Sahib in Surrey, Canada, was shot dead inside the Gurdwara premises. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau complained in an emergency session of the Canadian Parliament on September 18 that India’s spy agency had a role in the investigation of that incident.
He practically targeted India by standing in the Canadian Parliament for Hardeep’s murder. He also claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with him during the G20 summit. That’s where the controversy started.
However, India has denied responsibility for Nijjar’s murder. India claims that Trudeau’s allegations are “unreasonable” and “motivated”. An Indian diplomat was also expelled from Canada after Trudeau’s statement.
