Kushtia Correspondent: The Ismail Memorial Football Tournament was officially inaugurated in Bheramara, Kushtia. On Friday afternoon, the football match was played in a knockout format at the Chinese Bar organized by Navana Sports at the Bheramara Government College Grounds.
Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Upazila Sports Association General Secretary Alhaj Shamimul Islam Chana presided over the opening ceremony. Upazila Executive Officer and Upazila Sports Association President Akash Kumar Kundu were present as the chief guests. President of Bheramara Press Club Jahangir Hossain Jewel, Vice President of Bheramara Sports Association Ataur Rahman Naib, Deputy General Secretary Hasan Bin Jhantu, Municipal Panel Mayor Naeemul Haque, 7th Ward Councilor Khasruzzaman Farooq, and Joint Secretary of Press Club S.M. The Chief Guest Upazila Executive Officer, Akash Kumar Kundu, said that the importance of sports is immense for the physical and mental development of the young generation and to save the youth society from the hands of drug addicts. There is no substitute for sports and physical activity to maintain a healthy body and a fresh mind. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of the current government, Sheikh Hasina, is herself a sportsperson. We have to focus on sports and physical activity for the sake of harmony of mind and body and the improvement of our personal lives. Among the total 14 teams in the tournament, the two teams participating in the inaugural game are MAB Enterprise and Bilshuka Uttar Para Sporting Club. MAB Enterprise won the game 7-0.
