International Desk: The European Union (EU) has reiterated its commitment to support Ukraine in the long term.

As part of this, the foreign ministers of the EU-allied countries met in a meeting in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Monday. Reuters news.

This is the first such meeting of foreign ministers outside the alliance. The meeting was held at a time when the EU member states are divided over aid to Ukraine. In addition, the success of Kiev’s counterattack against Russian troops is also limited.

EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell said in a statement, “We are having a historic meeting in Ukraine with EU member states, candidate members, and future members.

Borel said the purpose of this meeting is to express our solidarity and support for the people of Ukraine. However, he admitted that there is no aim to reach any specific and final decision in this meeting.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba sees the meeting as an important sign of European support.

Standing next to Borrell, he said, for the first time, the Foreign Affairs Council is meeting outside its current borders, outside the borders of the European Union, but within the future borders of the European Union.

The EU’s 27 members have been united in support of Ukraine for 19 months of the ongoing war. 11-point sanctions have been imposed on Russia. Besides, it is spending billions of euros to provide arms support to Kiev.

But there are growing fears of a split in the alliance over continued support for Kiev. At the same time, there are concerns about the support of the United States, the main patron of Kiev.

Slovakian leader Robert Ficho’s party has won the country’s parliamentary elections. He promised not to supply arms to Ukraine during the election campaign. Now Russia’s ally, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, will find a partner to rein in EU support.

Tensions have also risen between Kiev and its staunchest supporter, Poland. Warsaw imposes restrictions on Ukrainian grain as it seizes the country’s market. Kiev objected to this.

The matter of alleviating these concerns came up in the speech of French Foreign Minister Catherine Colner. He said the meeting is sending the same message to Moscow about the alliance’s commitment to support Ukraine in the long term.

“This is a testament to our strong and enduring support for Ukraine until this war is won,” Catherine said. This is also a message to Russia, so that the country does not rely on our fatigue. We will be here for a long time to come.
