International Desk: At least eight people were killed when a tourist bus fell into a ditch in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning.

According to the report, there were 55 passengers in the tourist bus, and they were going to Tenkasi. The bus fell into a ditch when the driver lost control on a curve near Coonoor in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. Later, local people, police, and fire service personnel came to the aid of the injured and rescued them.
According to the police, it is initially believed that the bus fell down when the driver lost control on the sharp bend. Superintendent of Police K Prabhakar told NDTV, “Investigation has started in this incident. It seems that the driver is at fault for the accident.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed grief over the casualties in the accident. Besides, he announced a compensation of 2 lakh rupees for the families of those who died in the accident.
Stalin said that Rs 50,000 will also be paid to those who are slightly injured.
