International Desk: India-Canada tension is not stopping. Now India has suspended visa services for Canadians. The country took this new step after expelling the Canadian diplomat. Through this, the relationship between the two countries is further down. News NDTV
According to a Reuters report, visa consulting service firm BLS International said on its website that India has suspended visa services for Canadian citizens from Thursday (September 21). According to the Ministry of External Affairs of India, the issuance of visas to Canadian citizens will be suspended until further instructions.
Earlier this month, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the suspension of the country’s trade agreement with India on his way back home after the G-20 summit. Then last Monday in Parliament, Trudeau made a direct accusation that the Indian government may be involved in the murder of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijja.
Then Canada expelled a top Indian diplomat. Within hours, India ordered the Canadian diplomat to leave the country within five days. After that, the country took this drastic step again today. Meanwhile, the White House is also deeply concerned about the alleged involvement of Indian agents in the killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijja. India has been urged to cooperate with Canada in any related investigation.
US national security spokesman John Kirby said, ‘We are deeply concerned. We encourage India to fully cooperate in the investigation into the murder.”
