Qatar’s World Cup squad announced

Sports Desk: The host Qatar has announced the 26-member team ahead of the first World Cup at home. Almoez Ali, Hasan Al-Haydos and Akram Afif, the country’s top three scorers of all time, have been kept in the team.

The most experienced among them is the Haydos. He has played 160 matches for Qatar so far. Who can play as a midfielder as well as a winger.

Coach Felix Sanchez has retained most of the players who contributed to Qatar’s Asian Cup win in 2019. Most of the players in the 26-man squad either play in the Qatar Stars League or champions Al Sadd.

Qatar is in the ‘A’ group in the World Cup. The other three teams in this group are Senegal, Netherlands and Ecuador respectively. Qatar will face Ecuador in the opening match of the World Cup on November 20 at 10 pm.

Then Qatar will face Senegal in the second match on November 25 at 7 pm. And on November 29 at 9 pm in the last match of the group stage, Qatar’s opponent is the Netherlands.

Qatar’s 26-man World Cup squad:
Goalkeepers: Saad Alsheb, Meshal Barsham and Youssef Hasan.

Defenders: Pedro Miguel, Musab Khidir, Tarek Salman, Bassam Al-Rawi, Boalem Khoukhi, Abdelkarim Hassan, Homam Ahmed and Jassem Gaber.

Midfielders: Ali Asad, Asim Modibo, Mohamed Wad, Salem Al-Hajri, Mostafa Tarek, Karim Boudiaf, Abdelaziz Hatim and Ismail Mohamed.

Forwards: Nayef Alhadhrami, Ahmed Alaeldin, Hassan Al Haydos, Khalid Munir, Akram Afif, Almoez Ali and Mohammad Muntari.
