Buses will run on the elevated expressway

Dhaka Bureau: Buses will run on the Dhaka Elevated Expressway starting today. Initially, this bus service of BRTC will run from Uttara to Farmgate’s Khamarbari with 8 buses. The chairman of the organization said that the current fare will be taken on this route.

This service will be inaugurated from Manik Mia Avenue on Monday (September 18) at 11 a.m. BRTC buses will run on the elevated expressway much like a’shuttle’ service. That is, only on the runway. Buses will depart from Farmgate Palm Gardens.

After that, it will return to the Khajur Bagan area via the Uttara Jasimuddin Road via the flyover. In this way, the buses will run all day from 7 a.m. BRTC buses will be available till night as long as passengers are available. Fares on this route are also set to be affordable. The fare for 15 km from Palm Garden to the airport is Tk 35. And the fare for 17 km up to Jasimuddin has been fixed at Tk 40. The fare is 2 taka 45 paisa per kilometer.

Due to the e-ticketing system, there will be no opportunity to overcharge. BRTC has said it will increase the number of buses later based on passenger demand.
