Dhaka Bureau: The plan to form a new militant organization Jamaatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya is in jail. From last year 2017, the concerned started the work of forming the new militant organization. Following this, the organization started training in the mountainous region. Recently several members of the organization have been arrested by law enforcement agencies. However, the purpose of this organization is still unknown. However, Shamin Mahfuz is leading the organization. Details will be known if he is arrested.
Md. Asaduzzaman, Head of DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police gave this information in a press conference organized at DMP’s media center on Thursday (October 27) afternoon.
Md. Asaduzzaman said, on Wednesday (October 26), five members of the new militant organization Jamaatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya were arrested from the Demra area of the capital by the City Investigation Department of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of the DMP of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The arrested are Natore Md Abdullah (22), Comilla Chandina Md Tajul Islam (33), Narayanganj Md Ziauddin (37), Madaripur Md Habibullah (19) and Narayanganj Md Mahamudul Hasan (18). During the arrest, 3 phones, 12 pages of fatwa related papers were seized from them.
The initial interrogation of the arrested persons revealed that they had left their homes for the purpose of migration due to militancy. Arrested Abdullah was managing Ansar House. Abdullah used to accommodate the members of the new militant organization from different parts of the country who left home for the purpose of emigration. Later, from that Ansar House, Abdullah would send members of this new militant organization to the highlands for training.
Besides, the arrested Tajul and Habibullah used to receive the members of the new militant organization who came to Ansar House from different areas of the capital Dhaka.
He said that in the last month of August, seven young people left their homes in a group due to militancy in Comilla with the intention of migration. This issue created a stir across the country. Later CTTC started investigation in this matter. At one stage of the investigation, we arrested a young man named Abrar earlier. Abrar, after preliminary inquiries, was found to have left the house for the purpose of emigration. A militant named Doctor Shaker bin Wali brought Abrar out of the house. Then we arrested Dr Shaker Bin Wali too. This Shaker bin Wali is the head of the dawa department of this new militant organization. Shaker Bin Wali studied MBBS from Comilla Medical College Hospital. Although Shaker bin Wali was in the important position of the militant organization, he used to incite the youth to militancy under the instructions of another Huzur.
This Shaker bin Wali used to visit the new militant outfit’s training camp in the mountainous Bandarban area once a month. If any of their members were sick or suffering from any disease, he would treat them there. He used to visit the training camp once a month mainly to treat sick members of the new militant outfit. Again, when he was living in Dhaka, he used to communicate on the phone with Shamin Mahfuz alias Sir, the head of the new militant organization. Shaker bin Wali used to send orders after listening to the symptoms of illness of the members on the phone. Apart from this, when the members of the mountain terrorist organization Kukichin, who were in the training camp with the militant organization, were injured, doctor Shaker Bin Wali used to go there and treat them.
He also said that we got the name of a man in the interrogation of Doctor Shaker bin Wali. He studied in a reputed university of the country and also had a high paying job in a reputed organization. His name is Mohsin Elias aka Real. He completed his Honors-Masters from Bangladesh Agricultural University and started working as a top leader of the new militant organization.
Doctor Shaker bin Wali has given a statement in court two days ago Doctor Shaker bin Wali said in questioning about the creation of the new organization that the first Amir of the new organization is Mainul Islam alias Roxy. Roxy was the Amir of this organization till 2021. Roxy was arrested by CTTC in 2021. A couple of days ago, we remanded Roxy for extensive questioning. Roxy tells us that the main mastermind of this organization is Shamin Mahfuz alias Sir. Last year in 2014 Shamin Mahfuz alias Sir was arrested by DB. Roxy was previously arrested once in 2015. While Roxy and Shamin were in jail together, they came into contact with Abu Saeed, the convict who was sentenced to death in the August 21 grenade attack. They came in contact with Abu Said and discussed various issues. The plan was to create a new organization while these three people were in jail. The plan is for Roxy and Shamin to break out of the jail and form a strong militant organization with inmates and outlaws. As planned, Roxy and Shamin get to work after bailing out.
In this sequence they started looking for a camp in the hilly area for the training and security of the members of the organization.
The CTTC chief said that doctor Shaker, agriculturist Mohsin and Roxy said that Shamin Mahfuz had been planning since 2006 to create a militant network centered on the hilly areas. When he was last released on bail in 2017, he sought a training camp in the hills.
