International Desk: A bomb blast has occurred in a mosque in the northern part of Afghanistan. At least 11 people were killed, and at least 30 others were injured. Several Taliban officials were among the casualties.
The explosion took place at the Nawabi Mosque in Faizabad, Badakhshan, on Thursday (June 9) morning. Al-Jazeera news. The spokesman of the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban government of Afghanistan, Abdul Nafi Takor, gave this information.
He said that the funeral of Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, the deputy governor of Badakhshan, was going on in the mosque at the time of the explosion.
Abdul Nafi said Thursday’s blast also involved a former local police officer recruited by the Taliban. It is feared that the death toll may increase in this incident.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
