International Desk: At least 11 people were killed in a suicide bombing at the funeral of an acting provincial governor in Afghanistan. Another 30 people were injured in this incident. The attack took place at the funeral of Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan Province, on Thursday, the country’s interior ministry said.
The Taliban government condemned the incident and said in a statement, “The Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) condemns this brutality of the shameless enemy.”
A suicide bomb attack was carried out on Ahmadi’s car last Tuesday. He was killed in that incident. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
In August 2021, the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan. Since then, the security situation in the country has been improving. However, the terrorist group Islamic State still poses a threat to the country’s security.
