Sports Desk: New Zealand cricket team will visit Bangladesh just before the World Cup. The 2019 World Cup runners-up team will play three ODIs against the hosts. Before the visit to the subcontinent, the delegation of the country visited the host board to see the arrangements and ensure the facilities. A three-member delegation arrived in Bangladesh on Tuesday as per regular routine.
They left for Sylhet on Wednesday (May 31, 2023) morning. BCB wants to host an ODI against New Zealand in Sylhet. Earlier New Zealand played only in Dhaka and Chittagong. The delegation visited Nayanaviram Sylhet Stadium as the venue was decided in Sylhet. The delegation visited the main ground, ground 2, training facilities including dressing room, gym, indoor. Shahriar Nafis, manager of the cricket management department who was with them, said that the delegation from Sylhet field is satisfied.
He said in the mass media, ‘They have come to observe the ground. We have not finalized the venue yet but we are planning to host the match in Sylhet. That’s why they came to Sylhet. I believe and have received positive response from them so far. They are satisfied with the facilities here. We will definitely give them better facilities once the venue is finalised. Bangladesh is always a good host. I hope that continuity will be there in this tour as well.
The voice of the representative of the New Zealand team also had the same tone, ‘The facilities here are great. We are also planning to send teams here to play some matches. Will definitely get relief here. We are always interested in visiting Bangladesh. There is never anything to worry about.’
After the Asia Cup and between the World Cup, Bangladesh will host New Zealand at home. The Kiwis are scheduled to play three ODIs in a 10-day whirlwind tour.
