International Desk: President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey will take the oath on June 3. Meanwhile, the country’s new government can be sworn in the next day. A source in Ankara told Tas news agency

The source said, “The President will take oath and assume responsibility on Saturday.” The cabinet members are expected to take oath on Sunday, and the new government will begin its work.

Omar Celik, a spokesman for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said Erdogan could announce the formation of his new cabinet soon after being sworn in. Only three members of the current cabinet are expected to retain their posts. They are the Foreign, Home, and Defense Ministers.

Erdoan will hold the last session of the current government on Wednesday. It will start at 15:30 Moscow time and is expected to last for several hours.

Turkey’s highest electoral authority, the Supreme Election Council, released the official results of the parliamentary elections held on Tuesday, May 14. According to the protocol, the members of Parliament are supposed to take oath on June 2.

The second round of parliamentary elections was held in Turkey on May 28. The Supreme Election Council declared Erdoan the winner based on preliminary results. With 99.44 percent of the votes counted, Erdogan got 52.14 percent of the votes. There, opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu got 47.86 percent of the votes.
