In a hostel fire in Guyana, 20 female students were killed

International Desk: A terrible fire has occurred in a school hostel in the South American country of Guyana. At least 20 female students died. Several people were injured in this incident. British media, including the BBC, reported this information in a report on Monday (May 22).

According to reports, a fire broke out at a school hostel in the town of Mahida in central Guyana on Monday night (May 22) local time. The students were sleeping at the time of the accident.

Officials at the scene said several girls were trapped inside. Rescue operations are underway at the spot.

Some pictures and videos of the accident have gone viral on social media. These showed firefighter vehicles and ambulances at the scene. Private and military aircraft have reached Mahdia to conduct the Mahdia operation.

According to a report in the news outlet, seven children were taken to a hospital in the county capital, Georgetown, for treatment.

Referring to this accident as a major disaster, President Irfan Ali said that it was a terrible and painful accident. After this accident, several teams of health workers have been deployed at the airport for emergency services. Also, two main hospitals in Georgetown have been kept ready to ensure the best medical care for the injured.
