International Desk: A state of emergency has been declared in Canada’s Alberta province. Provincial authorities announced the decision on Saturday (May 6) local time as the fire spread. About 25,000 people have been displaced from their homes. This was reported by the BBC media in a report.

The fire has become so fierce that the residents of the town of Edson in the province have been asked to leave the town immediately. More than eight thousand people live in the city.

According to the report, Alberta has faced more than 100 wildfires. And this situation was called “unprecedented” by the head of the provincial government of Alberta, Daniel Smith.

Alberta Premier Daniel Smith said that so far, about 122,000 hectares of land have burned. Due to strong winds, the fire is getting out of control in many places.

Among the hardest-hit areas are Drayton Valley and Fox Lake. Drayton Valley is about 140 km west of the provincial capital Edmonton, and Fox Lake is about 550 km north of the capital city. 20 houses were burned there.

Firefighting helicopters and air tankers have been brought in to bring the fire under control. At the same time, the federal government offered to help.
