International Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the countrymen to be careful so that anti-independence, murderers, and arsonists cannot come to power.
He said this at a civic reception given to expatriate Bangladeshis at the Hotel Ridge Carlton in Washington on Tuesday, May 2.
The prime minister said the BNP-Jamaat alliance had burned many people to death and destroyed thousands of roadside trees in 2013–15 in the name of a so-called movement to oust the government. The BNP-Jamaat cycle has taken the country to the brink of destruction, and the Awami League government has once again taken the highway of development by ensuring the overall development of the country in the last 14 years. Bangladesh will move forward and transform into a developed and prosperous country as dreamed of by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We are working to make that dream come true.
He said, “We have made Bangladesh digital Bangladesh. They (BNP-Jamaat) are using the tool of Digital Bangladesh to spread anti-state propaganda against us at home and abroad. No one will listen to that propaganda. The independence of Bangladesh has been achieved in exchange for the blood of thousands of martyrs. All should walk globally with their heads held high and proper dignity maintained.
Summarizing the steps taken by his government to ensure the overall socio-economic development of Bangladesh, he said that his government has ensured the development of every sector, including infrastructure, health care, housing, education, and employment creation. The prime minister also mentioned that it was possible because the Awami League was in power.
