International Desk: The United States has claimed that more than 20,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in the Ukraine war since December. BBC news.
Citing intelligence information, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that, in addition, 80,000 Russian soldiers were injured at the time.
According to the report, half of the dead belonged to the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary force. The army is desperately fighting to capture the city of Bakhmut.
For more than eight months, fierce fighting has been going on between the Russian and Ukrainian armies to take control of this city in eastern Ukraine. Most of Bakhmut is currently occupied by Moscow, but some parts in the west are controlled by Ukraine.
John Kirby said, “We estimate that over 100,000 Russian troops have been killed in the last 5 months, 20,000 of them killed.”
