International Desk: North Korea has successfully tested a drone capable of carrying out underwater attacks. The name of this new underwater drone system is Haeil-2. Meaning ‘tsunami’ in North Korean. It is designed to launch a stealth attack in deep water, triggering a radioactive tsunami. Can destroy enemy ships and ports.
On Saturday (April 8), the country’s state media, KCNA, reported that the test was conducted between April 4 and 7.
North Korea test-fired a drone submarine amid joint military exercises between the US and South Korea. The new submarine has been named Hale-2. Earlier, the country had also tested another drone submarine named Hail-1.
According to a report by Al-Jazeera, a Qatar-based media outlet, North Korea claimed that the drone traveled a distance of about 1,000 kilometers for 71 hours and six minutes before the explosion and exploded in the sea near the port of Ryongdae in Tanchon City, South Hamgyong Province.
North Korea conducted a record number of weapons tests last year. Which continues this year as well. Tensions in the region have increased recently due to joint US-South Korea exercises.
But analysts have expressed doubts about whether the underwater vehicle is ready for deployment. North Korea, they say, has always been keen to display a range of weapons against the US and South Korea.
“The test fully proved the reliability of the underwater tactical weapon system and its lethal attack capability,” the report said.
On March 23, North Korea claimed it had tested an underwater nuclear attack drone. which
Capable of spreading radioactive tsunamis. According to state media, the drone traveled underwater for 59 hours and 12 minutes before the explosion.
