International Desk: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit Turkey in April. On April 27, the nuclear power reactor will be inaugurated in Turkey. The reactor was built by the Russian state-owned Rosatom Akku. Erdogan said that Putin could visit Turkey at the opening.
In an interview given to the private TV channel ATV on Wednesday (March 29), Erdoan said, “There is a possibility that Putin will come to Turkey on April 27.” Or he will join the opening ceremony virtually.
Erdoan also said that Turkey will fuel the first unit of the nuclear reactor on April 27, and that day it will be recognized as a nuclear reactor.
Before this, the news of Putin’s possible visit was published in Turkish media last Monday. However, the Russian President’s office, the Kremlin, denied the matter that day.
However, Erdogan and Putin spoke on the phone last Saturday. After the phone call, a statement issued by the Kremlin said that the two leaders talked about various issues. Among them was the issue of the Akku nuclear reactor.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of this month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of war crimes. According to the provisions of the member states of the International Court of Justice, if Putin goes to those member states, he must be arrested. However, Turkey is not a member of this court.
