International Desk: A terrible bus accident happened in the southern province of Asir in Saudi Arabia. At least 20 Umrah pilgrims were killed. At least 29 people were injured at the same time. Khaleej Times, Gulf News, and other media reports have informed this information.

According to reports, a passenger bus collided with a bridge in Aqaba Shar in the southern Asir province of Saudi Arabia on Monday (March 27) local time, overturned, and caught fire. The victims were going to Makkah to perform umrah. The accident occurred due to a brake problem.

After the accident, emergency services, including the Red Crescent team, rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to the nearest hospital. At the same time, they surrounded the area.

State-run Al-Ekhbariya confirmed the number of casualties, saying the dead included citizens of various countries. However, their nationalities and identities were not immediately disclosed.

When Ramadan begins, the number of Umrah pilgrims in Saudi Arabia increases several times. The incident has challenged the safe transportation of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

Earlier this year, in October 2019, a fatal road accident took place near Madinah. At that time, 35 foreign nationals were killed. Four people were injured at the same time.
