Dhaka Bureau: An arrest warrant has been issued against Shamima Nasreen, chairman of e-commerce company Evely, in the Digital Security Act case.
The then judge of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain rejected the application and issued this warrant.
On Wednesday (October 26), Shamim Al Mamun, bench assistant of the concerned tribunal, confirmed the matter.
He said that the case was scheduled for receipt of charge sheet on October 19. On that day, Shamima Nasreen applied for time through the lawyer without appearing in the court. The court rejected the application and issued an arrest warrant against him. The court rejected Russell’s bail application that day.
He also said that the case is scheduled for charge hearing on January 22.
On September 30, 2021, a customer named Alamgir Hossain filed a case against Russell and Shamima of Evaly in Badda police station under the Digital Security Act, alleging embezzlement of money by cheating through digital media.
On September 16, the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Pradeep Kumar, accused Russell and Shamima and filed the charge sheet.
