New Zealand lost by 267 runs in the first session of the fourth day

Sports desk: New Zealand lost by a big margin on the fourth day of the first day-night test against England at home. The English beat them by 267 runs. which is the first victory on New Zealand soil in 15 years.The last time England won in New Zealand was in Napier in 2008 under the leadership of Michael Vaughan.

Chasing the huge target of 394 runs set by England, the hosts ended the third day with 63 runs for the loss of five wickets. They were all out in one and a half hours and 22.3 overs today, the fourth day. They can add 63 runs by losing the remaining five wickets in the team collection. That means a big loss of 267 runs after being all out for 126 runs in 45.3 overs.

On the fourth day, Darryl Mitchell, who was unbeaten with 13 runs on the previous day, struggled to keep one end in check for New Zealand. He remained unbeaten on 57 runs from 101 balls with six fours and two sixes. Besides, Michael Bracewell, who was unbeaten with 25 runs the previous day, could not score any more runs today. Tom Latham had scored 15 the previous day. The remaining 8 batters’ runs were 20712098.

James Anderson and Steward Broad collapsed in New Zealand’s innings with the ball. They both shared eight wickets equally. Ollie Robinson and Jack Leach took the remaining two wickets.

England’s Harry Brook was man of the match after scoring 89 runs in the first innings and 54 runs in the second innings.

In the first innings of the Mount Manganui Test, England declared the innings over after scoring 325 runs. In reply, New Zealand were bowled out for 306 in their first innings thanks to Tom Blundell’s heroic innings of 138 runs.

With a lead of 19 runs, England were all out for 374 in 73.5 overs in the second innings on the third day. The target for victory in front of New Zealand is 394 runs.

The Kiwis fell into a batting disaster chasing this run. 5 wickets were lost for 28 runs.In the end, the hosts ended the third day with 63 runs. After losing the remaining five wickets today, adding 63 more runs to the team’s total, the Black Caps were bowled out for 126 runs.

England and New Zealand will meet in the second test of the series in Wellington on Friday.
