Rangpur Bureau: More than 30 lakhs worth of fake bandrolls and bandrollless beedirs were seized from the house of Azgar Ali of Mandrain Purvapara village of Lakshitari Union No. 5 of Gangachara Upazila of Rangpur district under the leadership of Customs Superintendent Shafiqul. At this time, the local Lakshitari Union Parishad has been kept in the hall room under the responsibility of the Chairman. Even though two days have passed, the customs authority has not taken any legal action. In this the government is deprived of a huge amount of revenue.

When asked about this matter with the Chairman of Laxmitari Union Parishad, Abdullah Al Hadi, he said, “I cannot say anything to the journalists about this. If I want to seize the customs invoice and keep it here, I am forced to think that I am a government official.” If you have any questions, ask the customs.

In this regard, Md. Shafiqul Islam made multiple calls to Customs on his cell phone but could not be contacted as he did not pick up the phone. Later, the Deputy Commissioner of Customs rang the phone but could not be contacted as he did not answer the phone. In this situation, when Customs Commissioner Suresh Chandra Biswas was called on his cell phone and asked about this, he said, legal action has been taken today, because the Deputy Commissioner is in training, the action is delayed. When I asked for the document of what legal action is being taken, he said, such arrests are happening almost every day, so I did not understand why you need the case document today, but he hung up saying that you should talk to the Deputy Commissioner about this.

Akiz Bidi Factory Ltd. On behalf of AGM Mahbubul Alam said that some unscrupulous traders and government officials have been doing illegal business for a long time. As a result, the government is deprived of a huge amount of revenue. According to this survey, about 12 to 14 crore rupees revenue is lost from Rangpur region every month. If the officials concerned perform their duties properly, the government can collect twice its revenue every month.
