International Desk: About 100 hours after the earthquake, another newborn baby has been rescued in Turkey. Along with that, the child’s mother was rescued alive. They were rescued from a wreckage in the country’s Hatay province on Friday night (February 10). This information was given in a report by Peoples.
According to the report, the 10-day-old baby’s name is Yagiz. Video reports circulated in local media and showed the child being carefully pulled out of the rubble. He was later wrapped in a blanket and taken to the hospital. The newborn’s mother was brought in on a stretcher.
However, their physical condition was not immediately known. Meanwhile, local media is reporting that the baby was saved alive four days after the earthquake.Members of Istanbul Mayor Ikrem Imammoglu’s rescue team were engaged in the rescue operation.
The mayor said on Twitter that the mother and newborn have been rescued in Samandag City. Video footage from the British news agency Reuters showed another man being pulled from the same rubble. However, it could not be confirmed whether this person has any relationship with the child and his mother.
Meanwhile, as four days have passed since the earthquake, the hope of rescuing anyone alive from the rubble is fading. Moreover, the rescue work is also being disrupted due to the severe winter. More than 21,000 people were killed in Turkey and Syria in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake and hundreds of aftershocks on Monday (February 6).
Millions of people have lost their homes, shelter, water, fuel, and electricity. Earlier, hundreds of thousands of applications had been submitted to adopt baby nannies who were born in the rubble after the earthquake. The baby was born in the rubble of Jindayres, Aleppo, in northwest Syria.
But his father, mother, and three siblings are dead. The child who miraculously survived was named Aya. He is now under treatment in the hospital. Hanif Maruf, a pediatrician who looked after him, said that his physical condition was very bad after the rescue, but now it is quite stable.
