Dhaka Bureau: Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association (BSRA) has announced to increase the price of the product again amid the sugar crisis in the market. The price of loose sugar has been increased by 5 rupees to 107 rupees per kg and the price of packaged sugar has been increased by 4 rupees to 112 rupees. This new price of sugar will be effective from February 1.
This information was informed in the press release of Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association on Thursday (January 26).
According to the notification, the new price of sugar has been determined from February 1 in consultation with the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission and the Ministry of Commerce, taking into account the increase in the international market price of unrefined sugar, the increase in the dollar exchange rate and the production cost of the local refining mills.
According to the information in the notification, the maximum retail price of refined open sugar per kg is Tk 107 and the maximum retail price of refined packaged sugar is Tk 112 per kg.
Earlier, on November 17, 2022, the price of loose sugar was fixed at Rs 102 per kg and the price of packaged sugar was fixed at Rs 108 per kg.
