Sports Desk: The field of Divisional Women’s Sports Complex is just behind Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. At 12:50 in the afternoon, a helicopter suddenly flew in the field of the complex. Age-wise, young cricketers from the academy practice there every day. But today there was no practice.
BPL defending champions Comilla Victorians are a special surprise. Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Rizwan joined their camp 10 minutes before the toss. He was flown by helicopter from Dhaka to Chittagong. The wicket-keeper batsman played the third ODI against New Zealand in Karachi on Saturday. The batsman scored 77 runs in the match which Pakistan lost by 2 wickets.
He is going to make his BPL debut in Chittagong in less than 12 hours. Rizwan caught a flight to Bangladesh at night after playing the match in the national team jersey. Landed in Dhaka at 10:25 am. Comilla arranged a helicopter for him at the airport. After that he flew from Dhaka to Chittagong in a very short time.
Keeping him in the eleven, Comilla entered the field against Shakib Al Hasan’s Fortune Barisal. Compatriot Hasan Ali also joined him. Besides, Chadrick Walton and Khushdil Shah are also playing in the match. Comilla won the toss and sent Barisal to bat.
Team manager Ahsanullah Hasan told RisingBD, “Rizwan came to the dressing room before the toss. He has been brought to the field in accordance with all the rules.
Rizwan is a very effective batsman in T20. Scored 5 thousand 882 runs in 211 T20 matches. Batting average 42.62. Strike rate 125.49. Rizwan is the number two batsman in T20 world ranking. He scored 996 runs in 25 international matches last year.
Comilla has entered the field in their third match in BPL. They could not win a single match in the first two matches. Let’s see if Rizwan can see the face of victory today with Hasan Ali.
Joining the team before the match in franchise cricket is not new at all. Earlier in BPL, Chittagong Vikings brought Pakistan’s Umar Akmal from Dubai to Dhaka in the morning and played in Chittagong in the afternoon. Vikings also brought him to Chittagong by helicopter. Of course Umar got out for zero runs in that match.
