Dhaka Bureau: International Monetary Fund (IMF) Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Antoinette Moncio Sayeh is coming to Dhaka on a 5-day visit. A source in the finance department said that he will come to Dhaka on Saturday (January 14). A $4.5 billion loan deal could be finalized during his visit.
It is reported that the Deputy Managing Director of IMF will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder, Finance Secretary Fatima Yasmin and Economic Relations Department (ERD) Secretary Sharifa Khan during his visit to Dhaka.
Last July, when Bangladesh applied for a loan of 4.5 billion dollars, the organization agreed to give it conditionally.
Meanwhile, a team led by the Governor of Bangladesh Bank met the IMF during the annual meeting of the World Bank and the IMF in Washington last October. After that meeting, the governor said that Bangladesh will get a loan from the IMF.
