Dhaka Bureau: 368 incidents of violence against women and children have taken place in the country this October, of which 61 incidents of rape have occurred. During this period, a total of 71 people including four children, 22 teenagers and 45 women committed suicide. 4 children and adolescents and 1 woman were abducted, Human Rights Culture Foundation (MSF) said.
The organization informed this information in a notification on Monday (October 31).
According to the organization, 1 child, 7 teenagers and 3 women have gone missing in October. In addition, 89 children, teenagers and women were killed including 14 unnatural deaths. Besides, 6 cases were registered under the Digital Security Act in October. 4 people have been arrested in this case.
A total of 7 people including 1 disabled pedestrian, 6 members of the ruling party have been killed in 42 political violence in the country this month. Besides, a total of 374 people have been victims of violence. Out of which 344 were injured, 30 are under treatment for serious injuries due to gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, the police arrested 103 people.
It is said that two robbers were shot and seriously injured in a shootout with the police in October. In addition, 5 cases of allegations of identity theft by law enforcement agencies have been published in the media. At the same time, unidentified bodies of 2 women and 5 youths were recovered.
Besides, one person died in police custody and three died in prison custody.
According to MSF, 51 people were injured in 12 incidents of election violence in October and 1 person was killed in post-election clashes. 15 journalists have been prevented from performing their professional duties in Zilla Parishad elections. In this month, 2 persons were killed, 2 were shot, 1 was tortured and 1 person was abducted in border firing by BSF. On the other hand, one Rohingya died in a landmine explosion on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, another Rohingya and a Bangladeshi national lost their legs.
