The winter vacation ended on Sunday (January 8) in Delhi’s private schools. Schools were supposed to open from Monday (January 9).
In the meantime, a circular from the Department of Education in Delhi said on Sunday, “All private schools have been ordered to remain closed till January 15 due to the ongoing cold wave in Delhi.”
The temperature in Delhi and its surrounding areas has been dropping for several days. But on Sunday, the severity of winter was the highest. Delhi’s temperature was recorded at 1.9 degrees Celsius in the morning at the Safdarjung Meteorological Centre. This is the second lowest temperature in Delhi in last 10 years. Earlier, the temperature of the capital in 2021 was 1.1 degrees Celsius.
Delhi’s air quality has also reached extremely poor levels due to bone-chilling cold and dense fog. On Sunday, the capital’s air quality index (Air Quality Index) was 359, which is a serious risk to health.
