Dhaka Bureau: Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP said that if the universities strengthen the research activities in the socio-economic context of Bangladesh, the speed of development of the country will be smooth. The world’s top universities spend a lot of time and money on research. Governments can also adopt their research findings and use them in policy making activities where necessary.

The Industries Minister said these while addressing the inaugural function of the two-day international conference on ‘Business Management and Social Sciences: Challenges and Ways Forward in the Post-Pandemic Era’ (ICBMSS-2022) organized by Northern University Bangladesh. Today, the program was organized at the campus of Northern University Bangladesh in Ashkona of the capital. Northern University Bangladesh Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Chaired by Anwar Hossain, the chairman of the board of trustees of the university was the special guest. Abu Yusuf Md. Abdullah

The Industries Minister said, the legacy of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the invincible dream of the Father of the Nation is being realized smoothly under the strong leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister, People’s Leader Sheikh Hasina. In the last one decade, unprecedented infrastructural development has been achieved in the country, the benefits of which are being reaped by the countrymen. We have built the Padma Bridge with our own funding which was opened for traffic on June 25. Yesterday we achieved another milestone with the inauguration of Metrorail. Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina became the first passenger of Metrorail to travel from Uttara to Agargaon. We were also with him at that historic moment. Apart from this, people will soon enjoy the benefits of installations like elevated expressway, Bangabandhu tunnel built on Karnaphuli river, Rooppur nuclear power plant, Ghorashal-Palash urea fertilizer factory. With the aim of bringing dynamism to the export trade, our government is rapidly advancing the construction of deep sea ports in the areas adjacent to Payra Port and Matarbari. If these projects are completed, our GDP will gradually increase.

Appreciating the Northern University of Bangladesh for organizing such an international conference, the minister said, if other private universities also come forward in this regard, the development goals of the country will be accelerated. We are all aware of the harmful effects of Covid-19. It has also affected the business of Bangladesh like other countries of the world. Hopefully, today’s conference will discuss ways and solutions to overcome this.

Note that more than 93 researchers, academicians and corporate experts from 7 countries such as India, Malaysia, Germany, USA, China, Turkey and Bangladesh will participate in this two-day conference and their research papers will be presented on various contemporary issues.
