International Desk: India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has said that his country has increased its military deployment in a disputed border area with China to an unprecedented level. He said this in response to a journalist’s question at an event organized by the Indian media India Today on Monday (December 19). Independent News.

According to reports, Jaishankar announced the deployment of troops a few days after the clash between the armies of the two countries in the border area of Arunachal Pradesh. He said that India will not allow China to unilaterally change the status quo of the border region.

There is a 3,440 km long disputed border between China and India. This boundary, called the Line of Actual Control (LAC), is poorly demarcated.

This ‘line’ changes from time to time due to the many rivers, lakes and snow capped mountains in the mountainous region. Then the armies of the two largest countries in the world faced each other in many places.

As tensions rise, minor skirmishes occasionally occur. In 2020, a major battle took place between the two sides over such a national issue in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh region.

Finally, on December 9, another clash broke out between the two sides in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector. A few soldiers were slightly injured.

India says the conflict started due to the incursion of Chinese troops. After the clash, China’s foreign ministry said the border situation was stable and the two sides were discussing the matter.

India’s Foreign Minister Jaishankar told India Today on Monday that Indian troops are now being deployed on the Chinese border in an unprecedented manner. This was done to counter Chinese aggression. Indian troops have been deployed today to prevent any attempt to unilaterally change the Line of Actual Control.

However, China has not yet responded to Jaishankar’s statement. The recent India-China border skirmish has left the political arena abuzz. Opposition parties staged a walkout from Parliament as their demands for immediate talks on the border situation were not met.

India’s main opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government was indifferent to China’s threat. He also alleged that Chinese soldiers are feeding Indian soldiers on the border.

In response to this, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said in the Indian Parliament on Monday that Rahul Gandhi had “disrespected” the Indian Army with his words. He also denied the allegations that the government is silent on the situation.

Jaishankar said, ‘If we are silent about China, who sent Indian troops to the border? If we are calm, why are we pressuring China today to reduce pressure?’
