Self-purification or US Blue Print: Kissinger on the Ukraine Question

Crime Desk: There is no accepted definition between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ in international politics. Rather, the tragedy is the definition of humanity based on the opinion of warlords. Recently former US Secretary of State and diplomat Henry Kissinger wrote an article in The Spectator Magazine. In light of this, Candice Seplow, an analyst at the newspaper, said yesterday that if we are to formulate an effective blueprint for peace, we must get out of the ‘Western’ perspective. The views of the 1.5 billion Chinese outside the West must also be considered. The thoughts of 150 crore Indians, 24 crore Pakistanis, 17 crore Bangladeshis, 28 crore Indonesians, 22 crore Nigerians, 22 crore Brazilians, 14 crore Mexicans etc. should also be taken into consideration. But we cannot go too far beyond the internal affairs of the US and the Europeans. African, Asian or Latin American relevance should also be considered.

Is a ceasefire the solution for now: Most politicians and diplomats around the world believe that the war in Ukraine will not end soon. No one will win this war, only one side will lose. So, Kissinger said, we must focus on minimizing the harm to the victims. Which means an immediate ceasefire. All United Nations agencies, especially the General Assembly, the High Commission for Human Rights, the High Commission for Refugees, development programs, and all organizations related to the environment, should follow this principle. We must discard the old paradigm of unconditional surrender to survive. Politicians need to shed the garb of ‘patriots’ dressed up by the mainstream media. A bridge of dialogue and de-nuclearization must be built.

Kissingerian Peace Blueprint: Finally Kissinger offered a blueprint for peace in Ukraine. It contains-
1. A ceasefire based on the UN Charter,
2. Prohibition on the supply of arms to the insurgents,
3. Organization of United Nations international aid for people suffering from lack of electricity, lack of food, etc.
4. Referendum monitoring in Crimea and Donbass through the United Nations;
5. Lifting sanctions, which have disrupted services around the world, disrupted supply chains, disrupted international trade and threatened food security,
6. Drafting a new security for Europe and the world,
7. Constitute a truth commission to hear the grievances of all parties,
8. Punishment of war crimes by the respective governments, such as Ukrainian crimes being investigated and tried by Ukrainian judges and Russian crimes being investigated and punished by Russian tribunals.

Time for a cease-fire: Henry Kissinger says everyone must agree to a cease-fire now, and it’s crucial to bring in mediators like Pope Francis. Calling for a negotiated end to hostilities, he said that in 1916, the United States government had an opportunity to end World War I through diplomacy, but the venerable Woodrow Wilson squandered that opportunity because of domestic politics.

Proxy or Real War: Coming to Jeeban Syahan, this diplomat clearly blamed the current US domestic politics and US diplomacy for this war. Kissinger said NATO is clearly engaged in a proxy war over Ukraine. NATO countries are playing a game to weaken Russia. But the US and NATO fail to understand that the Russians are very patriotic and will fight when they feel threatened, no matter who it is. No amount of sanctions will prompt the Russian people to revolt against Putin and replace him with someone friendly to the US.

Lessons from history: Kissinger said, we have already experienced 62 years of harsh sanctions against Cuba, which the Americans have failed to bring to its knees. 40 years of sanctions against Nicaragua, 23 years of economic war against Venezuela did not bring down the Chávez and Maduro governments. As I learned during my official UN mission in Venezuela, the vast majority of Venezuelans don’t blame Maduro for their problems—they blame the United States.

Yet he is the US: Kissinger said, of course we cannot go back to the world before February 24, 2022. Bleeding too much. Turkey negotiated a peace treaty in March 2022. But the US and the UK insisted on continuing the war until Russia was ‘victorious’. The consequences of war are prolonged due to this situation. Still, Kissinger suggested that peace would only come if Russia returned to its pre-February 24 status. In these words, Kissinger argued for his country’s foreign policy, but he privately claimed that any further peace or reconciliation in these regions by Ukraine would be unthinkable. What will happen then is a civil war, or even a guerilla war. It has become clear to everyone that the reason why Kosovans will no longer agree to reunification with Serbia is why the Russian population in Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk will no longer want to go with Ukraine.

Illusion of the West: The problem is – many in the West think that a war can break Russia’s backbone. What is always emphasized in the anti-Russian propaganda in the Western media is that what NATO is doing is justified. The media has already managed to create hatred against Russia in the American and European public so that further anti-Russian actions seem more justified.

Russians are friendly and shape Europe: As a former UN official, Kissinger said, I had the opportunity to learn the Russian language and mingle with them. I know a significant number of Russian citizens as friends. As a historian, I tried to understand the Russian mentality. Kissinger recalled Russia’s “historic role” in modern Europe. He warned that efforts to “isolate” Russia would turn a large swath of territory into a “contested void” or lead the region to endless war. NATO plans may even be the recipe for nuclear weapons.

Western mainstream media continues to fuel the fire against Russia. The situation today is quite different, as the possibility of Russia surrendering is nil. The West should not forget that the oceans are patrolled by Russian submarines armed with nuclear weapons. We must not provoke a nuclear conflict that could completely wipe out the human and animal life of this planet.
