Dhaka Bureau: The government has approved the proposal to buy 2 crore 75 lakh liters of soybean oil for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). It will cost 510 crore 28 lakh taka. Compared to the last lot, the price of the new lot has increased quite a bit. At the same time, the proposal to import 1 lakh 30 thousand metric tons of MOP and TSP fertilizers from United Arab Emirates and Canada has also been approved.
On Wednesday (December 14), Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement held online and approved the proposal in this regard.
At the end of the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Syed Mahbub Khan presented the details of the approved proposals to the journalists. He said that the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the procurement of 2 crore 75 lakh liters of soybean oil in three separate lots for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) under the Ministry of Commerce.
City Edible Oil Limited will supply 1 million liters of soybeans in the first lot at the rate of 184 taka 84 paisa per liter. Sumsing Edible Oil will supply 55 lakh liters of oil in the second lot at the rate of 184 taka 50 paisa per liter. In addition, Super Power Refinery Limited will supply 1 crore 10 lakh liters at the rate of 185 taka 95 paisa per liter in the third lot.
Earlier, on November 30, the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement approved the purchase of 2.2 million liters of soybean oil. At that time, the price of oil per liter was fixed at 156 taka 98 paisa. Accordingly, the price of new soybeans has increased slightly.
