2 killed, 4 injured in mob lynching on suspicion of robbery in Satkania

The Crime Desk: Two people were killed in a mob lynching on suspicion of robbery in Satkania’s Chhonkhola area. They were beaten up by announcing on the mosque’s microphone on suspicion of robbery.

During this, some local residents were shot in the return fire. They were rescued and taken to Chittagong Medical College.

The incident took place at around 10:45 pm on Monday (March 3) in the Kanchana Chhonkhola area of ​​the upazila.

Locals said that a political activist named Nejam from Kanchana returned to the country from the Middle East after August 5. After returning, he started extorting and robbing in the area. The locals were fed up with the atrocities of the Nejam group.

On Monday, when Nejam went to the Chhonkhola area with a few others, the worshippers who had come out after Tarawih prayers surrounded the Nejam group and announced on the mosque’s microphone that robbers had entered the area. Enraged by this, Nezam opened fire on the residents of Ekalab. When some of them were shot, the angry locals thrashed Nezam and those with him. Two people named Nezam and Salek died on the spot.

Satania Police Station Officer Amjad Hossain said that two people died in the mass beating of the locals. Some were shot. However, he could not say what caused the incident. Stating that the officer-in-charge of the police station and other officers were at the scene, he said that the injured have been sent to Chittagong Medical College.

Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahidul Islam said that the bodies of the two deceased are being taken to the police station. At least 4 injured people have been sent to Chittagong Medical College.
