The Crime Desk: Police have arrested three people for gang-raping a housewife in Mohammadpukur village of Sonamukhi union in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat and taking turns in the night. The arrested are Rubel Hossain (33), Faruk Hossain (40) of Mohammadpukur village, and Ekramul Haque (42) of Ramshala village.
The incident took place on Wednesday (February 5) night.
The victim housewife was undergoing training at the Joypurhat Technical Training Center (TTC) to prepare for going abroad. During the training, she met the accused, Rubel Hossain. On the day of the incident, Rubel tricked her into taking her home after the training.
On the way, Rubel, Faruk, and Ekramul Haque took the housewife to Faruk Hossain’s deep tube well house in Mohammadpukur village and took turns raping the housewife. At one point, the housewife lost consciousness, and the accused fled, leaving her in that state.
The housewife reported the incident to her husband on Thursday morning. In her sick condition, the housewife’s husband admitted her to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment. Then, last Friday night, she came to Akkelpur police station and filed a case against the accused with the police station, alleging gang rape. Later, the police conducted a raid and arrested three accused.
When asked, Rubel Hossain, the number one accused in the case, confessed to the rape at the police station and said, The housewife came to us of her own free will. She came to us on the terms of her installment money. We did not force her to do anything. Later, she framed us by filing a case with her husband at the police station.
The victim’s husband said, I had admitted my wife for a three-day training at the Joypurhat Technical Training Center (TTC) to go abroad. The number one accused in the case was also undergoing training there. He promised to take my wife home on his motorcycle and take her to the deep tube well of the second accused and destroyed her. At one stage, when my wife lost consciousness, they left her in the room and fled. The next morning, she came out of the deep tube well in a serious condition and told me about the incident. Then I admitted my wife to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment and filed a case with the police station. I hope I will get justice.
Inspector (OC) of Akkelpur Police Station Anisur Rahman said that her husband admitted the victim to Bogra for treatment. She will undergo all legal tests there.
The housewife’s husband became the complainant and filed a complaint with the police station on Friday night, accusing three people. After investigating the matter and finding primary truth, the complaint was taken as a case, and three accused were arrested in a drive. They were sent to jail through the court today (Saturday) afternoon.
