International Desk: 25 supporters of former Pakistani Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan have been sentenced to prison. They have been sentenced to prison for attacking military installations in the country. This information was reported in a report by Qatar-based media Al Jazeera on Saturday (December 21).

The media wing of the Pakistani military confirmed the sentencing of 25 Imran Khan activists on Saturday. The ISPR said in a statement that the military court sentenced 25 people involved in the riots on May 9, 2023, to between two and 10 years.

However, the military statement did not clarify their crimes.

Imran Khan’s supporters protested against his arrest in 2023. The protests that began across the country turned violent. The country’s army said that Imran Khan’s supporters were involved in vandalizing government buildings and military installations and setting them on fire.

However, the PTI has claimed that its supporters were not involved in the violence.

Amnesty International has condemned the sentencing of Imran Khan’s supporters, calling it a tactic of intimidation and an attempt to suppress dissent.
