Ireland sets Bangladesh a target of 135 runs

Sports Desk: Bangladesh is under pressure after losing the first match of the three-match series. They face the challenge of saving the series in the second T20I. In such an equation match, Ireland has set a target of 135 runs for the Bangladesh women’s team. Batting first, the Irish managed to score 134 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Laura Delaney scored the highest score of 35 runs for the team.

On Saturday (December 7) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the two Irish openers, Amy Hunter and Gabby Lewis, won the toss and opted to bat. However, Nahida Akhtar did not let them go far. Lewis was dismissed for 14 runs and broke the 34-run partnership.

With the team leading by 48 runs, Jannatul Sumana sent Amy into the trap of leg before. Amy scored 23 runs off 23 balls. Then, together with Orla Prendergast, Leah Paul took the team ahead. The two separated after the team scored 75 runs. Nahida broke the pair by returning Prendergast.

Then another great pair was formed by Leah Paul and Delaney. Together, the two took the team past the 100-run mark. Shortly after the team’s score crossed the 100 mark, Jahanara Alam sent Leah back to the dressing room after 16 runs. Taj Nehar took a great catch.

Delaney kept the team’s run wheel moving at one end. She got out, giving the team a fighting total. Delaney was dismissed by Fahima Khatun as the last wicket. Delaney scored 35 runs off 25 balls, hitting 4 fours. Ireland got a fighting total.

Nahida took the highest 2 wickets for Bangladesh. Jahanara, Sumona, and Fahima took one wicket each.
