City Reporter: Two and a half lakh rupees were robbed from a businessman in front of the city’s Cinema Palace. At the same time, the businessman’s wallet has also been stolen. Police were informed that there were various important documents, including an ATM card, in the wallet.
It is known that businessman Mortuza Chowdhury, a resident of the Shilpakala Academy area, was returning home in a rickshaw from the tile market in the stadium area around 7:30 pm yesterday. When he reached in front of the cinema palace, a group of 7/8 persons stopped the rickshaw at gunpoint and snatched Tk 2.5 lakh in cash and a wallet. Mortuza Ali reported the matter to the police and the administration.
However, till writing this report at night, no trace of the stolen money was found. Kotwali police said that they are working to arrest the robbers after collecting the CCTV footage of the area.
