Uneasiness in the market: the price of 12 products increased in a week

The Crime Desk: Common people are suffering as the prices of daily commodities have gone out of reach for some time. There is no such product in the market whose price is within the affordability of common people.

According to government agency Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), the prices of 12 commodities increased in the last one week (October 7-14), including soybean oil, palm oil, rice bran oil, potato, chickpea, onion, garlic, cumin, cinnamon. , coriander, beef, and eggs.

It is known that the price of eggs has increased by 12 rupees per dozen. The price has gone up to 180-200 rupees per dozen. After the campaign of consumer rights in the market to reduce the price of eggs, the sale of eggs has been stopped. As a result, there is a shortage of eggs in the market.

On the other hand, the price of open soybean oil has increased by Tk 1 per liter in a week. This increased by 4 rupees in a month. The price of potatoes has increased by Tk 5 per kg, onion by Tk 5, and beef price by Tk 50 per kg. The list of TCB does not mention the price of vegetables. Although now the highest price in the market is vegetables. Most vegetables start from Tk 80 per kg. Some vegetables are being sold at Tk 150 per kg.

TCB says that despite the increase in the prices of some items, the prices of seven daily commodities have decreased in a week. These include lentil, mung dal, ginger, cardamom, beef, desi chicken, and sugar. The prices of these products were very high earlier. As a result, although it decreased slightly, it did not bring relief.
