The Crime Desk: About 1,000 migrant Bangladeshi workers from Lebanon want to return home. The government is working closely with all concerned to bring back these Bangladeshis who are interested in repatriation safely.
On Wednesday (October 9), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a circular that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Expatriate Welfare, and Foreign Employment Ministry are working together to repatriate Bangladeshis trapped in war-torn Lebanon.
Meanwhile, an inter-ministerial meeting was held with the participation of the Foreign Secretary, Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Secretary, and Managing Director of Bangladesh Biman. Mission heads of Bangladesh assigned to various countries in the Middle East were connected to the Zoom platform in the meeting.
The Foreign Secretary has given necessary instructions to the Bangladesh Ambassador in Lebanon to take necessary measures for the safe repatriation of Bangladeshis stranded in Lebanon. He also gave necessary instructions to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi expatriates staying there who are not willing to return to their country.
Already, a notification has been issued from the embassy to enroll Bangladeshis who wish to repatriate, and initially, about 1,000 migrant workers are said to be willing to repatriate.
