International Desk: At least 30 people have lost their lives as a result of a conflict over a controversial gold mine in the Oceania country of Papua New Guinea. Police said more than 300 shots were fired in a single day last Sunday amid clashes. This terrible incident happened after the failure of peace talks. Schools, hospitals, and government offices in the area were closed, and many buildings were reported to have been set on fire.
Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner David Manning expressed concern that the situation is caused by illegal miners and settlers, who have resorted to violence to terrorize local communities. He also added that strict action will be taken if arms are caught in public.
