Riots in Belgium after defeat to Morocco

International Desk: Riots broke out in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, after Qatar lost to Morocco in a World Cup football match. Police are firing water cannons and tear gas shells to disperse rioters in central Brussels.

According to a report by Qatar-based media Al Jazeera, angry people set cars on fire in Brussels after the 2-0 loss to Morocco. He threw bricks and vandalized the car. Many came down the street with sticks in hand. At this time, a journalist was injured.

Brussels Mayor Philippe Close has ordered people to stay away from the city center of Brussels. He said that the authorities are working to restore order on the road.

Close said, “I strongly condemn the incident this afternoon.” Police have already taken strict action. I am asking fans not to come downtown. I have instructed the police to arrest the miscreants.

The country’s police spokeswoman, Ilse van de Keery, said the situation is now under control. However, it is not yet known how many people have been arrested in this incident. Metro station and various roads have been closed after this incident.

By the way, on Sunday (November 27) night, the African country Morocco showed a surprise in Qatar World Cup. They beat Belgium, which is in second place in the FIFA ranking, by 2-0.
