International Desk: For the past 10 months, Israel has been targeting the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and the pro-Iranian armed group Hezbollah.

This time, the country killed a military commander of Fatah, considered a secular political party in Palestine. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the group led by Mahmoud Abbas, confirmed this on Wednesday.

Fatah said an Israeli airstrike killed one of its military commanders in southern Lebanon. The name of the slain commander was Khalil al-Maqdah.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency also confirmed the death of the Fatah commander. Al-Maqdah was killed when an Israeli drone hit his car in the Vilas area of Sidon, the media reported.

According to the Israeli military, al-Maqdah and his brother Munir were involved in anti-Israel activities with Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Along with Hamas, Fatah is considered the strongest political party in Palestine. Hamas wants the destruction of Israel. To overthrow Israel and restore the independence of their land.

On the other hand, Fatah wants to survive through reconciliation with Israel. Fatah’s initial objective was an armed struggle against Israel to liberate the Palestinians. Later, there was a change in the ideology of their political party. In January this year, Fatah and Hamas reached a historic agreement to form a unity government.
